Brad Hodge hits out at BCCI over non-payment for representing KTK in IPL 2011

India’s governing body, BCCI has often come under fire in terms of processing payments. Despite being the richest cricket body, it pays very late to cricketers.

Recently, BCCI made the headlines for wrong reason over payment. Indian women cricketers made the finals of last year’s World T20 in Australia.

They lost to Australia in the final. The runners-up will receive their share from the USD 500,000 prize money by the end of this week. A senior BCCI official also confirmed the development.

The news comes after the women cricketers are yet to be paid. BCCI is yet to dish out the runner-up prize money of the global event. The marquee event was held in February-March last year.

Meanwhile, the BCCI made the headlines for yet another embarrassing news. Brad Hodge slammed BCCI for not paying the players who represented KTK in IPL 2011.

KTK (Kochi Tuskers Kerala) franchise came into existence in 2011 but ended up getting terminated. Their journey ended right after their first season because they failed to pay the 10 per cent bank guarantee element of the franchise fee.

Brad Hogg slams BCCI on Twitter

Hodge took to his Twitter handle and raised the issue. The former Australian cricketer’s tweet came to light after BCCI didn’t disburse the payment to men, women, umpires and scorers.

Hodge made his IPL debut for Kolkata Knight Riders in 2008. After that, he represented Kochi Tuskers for one season in the fourth edition of the IPL. Later on, he played three seasons for Rajasthan Royals.

The Australian played 14 games for KTK in IPL 2011 wherein he scored 285 runs. He maintained an average of 35.63 and a strike rate of 120.76 including a half-century against Chennai Super Kings at the Chepauk in their last league match.

He played in the IPL for 7 seasons and later on, he took up the coaching role at Gujarat Lions in the 2016-17 season. In IPL 2018, Hodge was the head coach of Punjab Kings.

“Players are still owed 35% of their money earned from ten years ago from the @IPL representing Kochi tuskers. Any chance @BCCI could locate that money?,” Brad Hogg wrote on Twitter.

Brad Hodge’s tweet went viral on the internet. It will be interesting to see if BCCI or the IPL will reply to Hodge’s accusation over a non-payment from a decade ago.
